Sam Smith shares maternal feelings and family plans

Sam Smith opened up about feeling maternal and eager to start a family one day. The non-binary singer discussed the topic during a BBC Radio 2 interview while promoting new single Oh Mother.

Sam Smith, 34, told host Sara Cox they have been thinking more about parenthood lately. "As I'm getting older I feel like I'm becoming more maternal and more definitely hungry one day to have children myself," they said.

The singer, engaged to fashion designer Christian Cowan, credited their mum Kate Cassidy as inspiration for the track. They also praised their entire family's support through tough times.

Sam now lives in New York but admitted missing proper British fish and chips. In 2023 they expressed a desire to end their days as a "fisher-them."

So... is the family chapter next on the agenda?
