São Paulo starts campaign to collect sweaters and blankets for pets

Starting next Monday, May 25, São Paulo will run a campaign to collect warm clothing for pets living on the streets.

The drive, run by Cosap under the Municipal Health Secretariat, aims to raise awareness about homeless pets. Analy Xavier, the agency's coordinator, said the campaign uses the motto 'where there is cold, may I bring solidarity'.

Donations in good condition can be dropped off at six collection points across the city, including the unit at rua Santa Eulália, 86, in Santana, and avenida Santo Amaro, 6.824, in Santo Amaro. Items will be distributed during the Low Temperatures Operation whenever thermometers drop below 13ºC.

Colder weather can cause shivering, breathing discomfort and higher disease risk for puppies and older animals. City officials advise keeping pets warm and hydrated.
