The night of Isra Mikraj on 27 Rajab 1447 H falls on Friday night, January 16, 2026, offering Muslims a special moment for prayer. Scholars recommend a specific prayer from the book Nurul Anwar, believed to fulfill wishes and clear the heart. This practice is part of various recommended devotions to strengthen faith.
Meaning of Isra Mikraj Night
The night of Isra Mikraj is a monumental event in Islamic history, where Prophet Muhammad SAW journeyed from Masjidil Haram in Makkah to Masjidil Aqsa in Jerusalem, then to Sidratul Muntaha. During this, Allah SWT established the obligation of prayer, initially 50 times a day, later reduced to five times through the Prophet's intercession.
The commemoration on 27 Rajab 1447 H, or Friday night January 16, 2026, is encouraged to be filled with good deeds, including abundant prayer. Rajab is known as a month of seeking forgiveness and blessings.
Recommended Special Prayer
One prominent prayer is cited from the book Nurul Anwar wa Kanzul Abrar fi Dzikris Shalati ‘alan Nabi al-Mukhtar by Syekh Muhammad bin Abdullah bin Hasan al-Halabi al-Qadiri. Ustadz Sunnatullah from Pondok Pesantren Al Hikmah Darussalam, Bangkalan, East Java, explains its virtues in his article dated January 15, 2026.
“Whoever reads this prayer on the night of 27 Rajab and then asks Allah to fulfill their needs, their needs will be fulfilled by Allah's permission,” he writes, quoting the book.
The prayer's text:
Translation: “O Allah, by the majesty of revealing the secrets of the lovers, and by the honor of the seclusion You reserved for the leader of the messengers when You took him on the journey on the night of the twenty-seventh, I ask You to have mercy on my sorrowful heart and to answer my prayer, O Most Generous of the generous.”
According to Ustadz Sunnatullah, referencing Syekh Abdurrahman bin Abdussalam as Syafi’i, this prayer not only fulfills wishes but also eases life's affairs and clears the heart.
Other Practices
Besides prayer, Isra Mikraj practices include abundant istighfar, such as sayyidul istighfar in the morning and evening. The commemoration aims to deepen faith and improve daily spirituality.
