Sirius stages comeback to defeat Kalmar 3-2

IK Sirius preserved its unbeaten run in the Swedish Allsvenskan with a dramatic 3–2 home win over Kalmar FF. The team overturned a two-goal deficit at Studenternas in Uppsala. Substitute Odera Adindu emerged as the match hero with the winner in stoppage time.

Sirius, the standout team early in the Allsvenskan season, entered the match as favorites at a sunny Studenternas in Uppsala. But newcomers Kalmar FF resisted strongly. After nearly 40 minutes, 19-year-old Charlie Rosenqvist headed in the opener, his third goal in three games. Rony Jansson made it 2–0 just before halftime.

Sirius pulled one back through Victor Svensson midway through the second half, restoring tension. With a quarter of an hour left, top scorer Isak Bjerkebo equalized from the penalty spot, his sixth goal of the season. Substitute Odera Adindu then clinched the turnaround with a breakaway goal in stoppage time.

"I thank God for the goal. It feels so good. When I get that chance, I just think I have to score the decisive goal for the team", Adindu told TV4 Play.

Coach Andreas Engelmark admitted dissatisfaction with parts of the performance. "We put ourselves in a really tough spot but well done turning it around. I wasn't completely happy at halftime. We didn't have the right energy and attitude in the first half. We must do better", he said. Sirius leads the table with 16 out of 18 points, marking four straight wins plus a draw against Häcken last time.
