SMHI issues yellow warning for heavy rain in southern Sweden

SMHI has issued a yellow warning for skyfall-like rain in parts of Halland, Skåne, Småland and on Öland during Sunday and Monday.

The warning applies from 1 p.m. on Sunday in areas from Halmstad across Småland to Kalmar and Öland. The rain is expected to continue through the afternoon, evening and night until Monday morning.

SMHI warns that roads, viaducts, basements and stormwater systems may be flooded. Travel times may increase due to poor visibility and the risk of aquaplaning.

A similar yellow warning for rain and thunder also applies in Halland, northern Skåne, Kronoberg and Blekinge until 11 p.m. on Sunday. Over Småland and Öland it extends until 12 p.m. on Monday.

On Saturday, Östergötland was hit by heavy rain that flooded several buildings in Norrköping.
