Reports of scams have emerged amid the event's massive draw of up to 260,000 fans, prompting enhanced security as preparations intensify.
The investigation follows a request from ticket platform Nol Universe, which flagged automated programs snatching tickets, reports the Korean Herald. Police are examining three criminal cases where scammers used bots to secure tickets and stole personal data, with victims losing 150,000–300,000 won ($102–$204) without receiving access.
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism spotted 1,868 resale listings on secondhand platforms, per Chosun Daily, and urged probes into four cases involving 105 premium-priced tickets.
Security ramps up with 4,800 police officers, including mobile units and special forces for threats like attacks or terrorism. KT Corporation will shutter its nearby building on March 21, limiting access amid fan crowds.
This builds on earlier preparations for the one-hour show, which sold out instantly and launches BTS' ARIRANG world tour from April 9 across 34 cities, streamed on Netflix.
