The Pittsburgh Steelers reached agreement Tuesday on a four-year contract extension with outside linebacker Nick Herbig worth $100 million, including $42 million guaranteed.
The deal, reported by multiple outlets including NFL Network and ESPN, keeps the 24-year-old Herbig under contract through the 2030 season. Herbig, a fourth-round pick in 2023, has recorded 16 sacks and nine forced fumbles in 45 appearances over three seasons. Herbig told reporters he wants to remain with the team long term. 'It’s my desire to be a Steeler for life,' he said. He added that he separates business matters from football and continues to prepare for the upcoming season. The extension comes amid a crowded outside linebacker group that also includes T.J. Watt and Alex Highsmith. ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reported the Steelers plan to keep all three players for the 2026 season. Some analysts have noted possible future trade interest in Highsmith, though no immediate moves are planned. Herbig is entering his prime after posting career highs of 7.5 sacks and 48 pressures in 2025. The new contract makes him the first non-quarterback to receive a $100 million deal without having started a full NFL season.
