Chilean player Alejandro Tabilo, ranked 35th, comfortably defeated veteran Spaniard Pablo Carreño Busta in one hour and ten minutes. After a rain delay, Tabilo dominated the second set and advanced to the second round, where he will face Francisco Cerúndolo.
The win allows Tabilo to add ranking points without defending previous ones and boosts his chances of seeding at Roland Garros, where he currently sits at No. 32.
Meanwhile, Cristian Garin, who advanced through qualifying, is scheduled to make his main-draw debut against Juan Manuel Cerúndolo on Thursday not before 7:20 a.m. Chile time. The match will be played on Court 1 and broadcast on ESPN and Disney+.
