Tesla FSD to remember parking preferences, Musk says

Tesla is preparing an update to its Full Self-Driving software that will allow vehicles to recall a driver's preferred parking spots at regular destinations. Chief executive Elon Musk confirmed the change in response to user feedback.

Musk replied to a post by tech entrepreneur Tom Blomfield, who reported completing 96 percent of his recent mileage autonomously. Blomfield said he only intervenes when reversing into his garage.

Musk wrote that upcoming releases of FSD will remember parking preferences so the car goes to the right location at home, office or school drop-off. He added that destination parking is the main reason drivers intervene with the system.

Critical safety interventions remain extremely rare, according to Musk. The current version of the software typically selects the first available space in a lot, which can lead to inconvenient positions.

Tesla has officially released Full Self-Driving software version 14.3, featuring enhancements in parking prediction, reaction times, and handling of rare driving scenarios. The update includes a rewritten AI compiler for 20% faster reactions and upgrades to reinforcement learning. Early user impressions note smoother highway driving but some persistent navigation issues.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk announced that upcoming releases of Full Self-Driving will learn and apply drivers' parking preferences. The update aims to reduce the most common reason for human intervention during FSD operation.
