FIFA President Gianni Infantino announced that U.S. President Donald Trump will join him in presenting the 2026 FIFA World Cup championship trophy. The ceremony is set for July 19 at the tournament's final. Infantino made the revelation during a kick-off event in Davos.

He emphasized the trophy's significance, stating, "This trophy will be handed out on the 19th of July to the captain of the team who will win the World Cup. I will give it together with the President of the United States, the host country. Nobody can touch this trophy."
Infantino, who grew up playing football, reflected on his personal connection to the prize. "I decided to become FIFA president so I could finally have the privilege and the honor to touch this magic trophy," he said. "It's truly the most iconic trophy in the world of sports. It is truly magic."
Trump has prior experience with FIFA trophy presentations. Last year, he participated in the handover following Chelsea's 3-0 victory over Paris Saint-Germain in the FIFA Club World Cup final. Additionally, in December, during the World Cup draw in Washington, Trump received the inaugural FIFA Peace Prize from Infantino. The award recognizes exceptional actions for peace that unite people globally.
Infantino praised Trump at the time, saying, "You definitely deserve the first FIFA peace prize for your action, for what you have obtained – in your way – but you obtained it in an incredible way." Trump called it "one of the great honors" of his life.
This involvement underscores Trump's growing ties to international soccer as the United States co-hosts the 2026 tournament with Canada and Mexico.
