Virgil Abloh Archive launches The Virgil Reader Volume 001

The Virgil Abloh Archive has announced its first print publication, The Virgil Reader, Volume 001, offering insights into the late designer's creative process. This project expands on last year's Virgil Abloh: The Codes exhibition in Paris and ties into upcoming sneaker releases. Proceeds will support archival research and youth education.

The Virgil Abloh Archive announced The Virgil Reader, Volume 001, on March 5, 2026, ahead of the anticipated Air Jordan 1 ‘Alaska’ launch. This first printed publication collects interviews and archival materials covering Abloh’s work in fashion, design, music, and art, providing a deeper look into his creative process and cultural commentary.

It serves as an extension of the Virgil Abloh: The Codes exhibition held in Paris in 2025. Shannon Abloh, Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Virgil Abloh Securities, stated: “Virgil believed deeply in sharing knowledge and opening doors. The Archive and Foundation are my commitment to carrying that forward, making his work accessible, contextualised, and meaningful for future generations. Through the launch of the Archive Membership and The Virgil Reader Vol. 001, we are inviting the public into that process, with moments of connection and collaboration still ahead.”

Originally limited to 2,000 physical copies, the edition will see additional printings due to high demand. Priced at $55, pre-orders are available on the VAA website. A digital version is accessible through free membership, which also provides emerging designers with yearly resources and a chance to win Air Jordan 1 ‘Alaskas’ and a copy of the book.

All proceeds fund the Archive’s research, publishing, and the Virgil Abloh Foundation’s youth educational programs. A launch event is scheduled for March 14-15 at Architecture in Los Angeles, with further activations planned.
