Police have named the driver of a wing box truck, identified as Y (48), a suspect in the crash that killed Aipda Endang Karyana on the Jakarta Outer Ring Road on 3 July 2026. Y was detained after admitting he fell asleep at the wheel.
The incident occurred on Friday morning on the JORR W2 section toward Pondok Pinang near the Joglo exit. Aipda Endang was assisting the driver of a stalled light truck loaded with ampas tahu when an Isuzu wing box truck with police number B-9663-TXW struck the rear of the vehicle.
The impact pushed the stalled truck forward and hit Aipda Endang. The officer suffered severe injuries to his head and legs and later died.
Metro Jakarta Barat police traffic chief Kompol Reza Hafiz Gumilang said Y was detained on Saturday 4 July 2026 due to negligence. AKBP Rieki Indra Brata Manggala of the Polda Metro Jaya traffic directorate confirmed the victim died while on patrol duty.
