The Aragonese Pyrenees woke up on Sunday to extreme weather conditions at the start of Easter week. Temperatures dropped to -12.5 degrees in Cerler and -11.7 in Astun, with wind gusts reaching 154 km/h in the area. Outside high mountains, Andorra in Teruel exceeded 110 km/h and Castellote recorded similar figures.
Snowfalls have accumulated up to 20 cm in recent hours across the Huesca Pyrenees, from Jacetania to Ribagorza, hindering road access. Several roads require chains and ban heavy vehicles and buses on stretches to Cerler, Benasque, and Candanchu. Consequently, resorts like Cerler and Formigal-Panticosa have closed, while Astun-Candanchu operates partially due to wind.
