A 34-year-old Pennsylvania woman has been charged with involuntary manslaughter after authorities say she pushed her 63-year-old mother during an argument, causing a fatal fall down a staircase.
Elissa Blair Waltman faces charges in the death of her mother, Eileen Flugrath. The incident occurred on April 5 at Flugrath's home on the 100 block of Pickwick Place in Millersville, Pennsylvania.
Police responded around 10:30 a.m. and found Flugrath injured at the bottom of the stairs. An eyewitness reported a new indentation in the wall at the top of the stairs. Waltman initially told investigators that her mother had fallen on her own during their argument.
Waltman later admitted to pushing her mother, according to police. Flugrath was taken to a hospital and died four days later. Waltman was arraigned on Thursday and is being held without bail at Lancaster County Prison.
She is scheduled to return to court for a preliminary hearing on June 23.
