Xreal updates entry-level AR glasses with 1S model at CES 2026

Xreal has unveiled an updated version of its entry-level personal cinema glasses, the Xreal 1S, at CES 2026 in Las Vegas, featuring improved specs and a lower price. The company also introduced the Neo accessory, a portable battery and dock designed to enhance connectivity with Nintendo Switch consoles. These developments aim to make AR displays more accessible for gaming and media consumption.

At CES 2026, held in Las Vegas from January 4 to 9, Xreal announced the Xreal 1S, an upgrade to its Xreal One glasses originally launched at the end of 2024. The 1S connects via USB-C to devices like smartphones, tablets, laptops, and consoles, using micro-OLED displays in the eyecups to simulate a large screen—up to 500 inches for capable users.

Key improvements include a resolution boost to 1200p full HD from 1080p, a field of view expanded to 52 degrees from 50, brightness increased to 700 nits from 600, and an aspect ratio shifted to 16:10 from 16:9 for better gaming compatibility. Priced at $449, the 1S is $50 cheaper than the original One's $499. It supports prescription insert lenses and introduces a beta automatic 3D media conversion feature via onboard chipset, though it can reduce frame rates and feels imprecise.

Complementing the glasses, Xreal launched the Neo for $99—a 10,000mAh battery pack that doubles as a DisplayPort hub and mini-dock. It enables direct connection to Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 consoles without a traditional dock, passing video through USB-C and including a magnet and kickstand for portability. However, setup can be awkward: the Switch requires a bottom USB-C port, Joy-Cons detached in docked mode, and a magnetic sticker for attachment. Gaming tests showed strong performance for titles like Mario Kart World, Donkey Kong Bananza, and Kirby Air Riders on micro-OLED, but issues arose with Metroid Prime 4, including slowdowns and firmware prompts.

The 1S outperforms the pricier Xreal One Pro in resolution and gaming ratios, though the Pro's lens system reduces glare better. Xreal's updates position the 1S as a top pick, with both products available now. Compared to rivals like Viture's similar dock, the Neo is more compact but lacks dual-glasses support.
