New Balance has introduced the Ellipse, a new performance running sneaker designed for runners of all skill levels. The model features an engineered mesh upper and Fresh Foam X cushioning, positioning it as a competitor to the adidas Adizero Evo SL. It will debut globally on March 5, 2026, at a retail price of $145.
New Balance, based in Boston, has unveiled the Ellipse, its latest innovation in performance running footwear. The sneaker draws inspiration from the brand's archival running designs and targets runners from beginners to those recovering from races.
The Ellipse incorporates a lightweight, breathable engineered mesh upper that provides a secure fit. A wavy pattern extends from the heel to the toe, with a fused material strip separating two woven mesh sections. Reflective details enhance visibility in low-light conditions. The standout feature is the Fresh Foam X midsole, offering a 37.9mm stack height and a rockered profile for elevated cushioning.
"The Ellipse celebrates all who run – whether logging their first miles or recovering after race day – by delivering an elevated cushioned experience and a rockered profile that helps keep things easy on the body," said Kevin FitzPatrick, Global Vice President of Running at New Balance. "It’s designed to motivate runners of all types to get out there and enjoy their run."
The initial colorway, Medusa Green, launches on March 5, 2026, through New Balance and global retailers, with additional options arriving on March 19, 2026. Priced at $145, the Ellipse enters the lightweight, budget running market amid preparations for marathon season. Action Bronson announced the sneaker, highlighting its design, price, and foam technology as potential strengths against competitors like the adidas Adizero Evo SL.
