Studio Hagel has unveiled a new collaboration with Asics featuring the NeoTide silhouette, inspired by hiking footwear. The design includes earthy colorways and outdoor-themed elements. The shoes are set to launch in March.
Studio Hagel, known for experimental footwear designs such as embroidered napkin uppers and alien-like spiked outsoles, has taken a more subdued approach in its latest project with Asics. The studio revealed the first look at the Japanese brand's new NeoTide silhouette on Instagram.
The NeoTide features a mesh base layered with nubuck panels for the upper, paired with a chunky midsole and a tractioned outsole. This construction draws inspiration from hiking footwear. Two colorways are showcased: one in earthy 'Brown Storm' tones accented by pink on the ‘NEOTIDE’ stitching, and the other primarily in 'Sweet Pink' mesh combined with shades of 'Clay Grey' and brown. Two-toned, rope-style laces add to the trail-ready aesthetic.
A teaser clip includes Studio Hagel founder Mathieu Hagelaars and shows a woman trimming shrubs in a garden, tying into the design's outdoorsy theme. This marks the studio's second partnership with Asics, following the NeoCurve model, which used recycled materials from discarded shoes. It remains unclear if the NeoTide employs a similar production process.
The Studio Hagel x Asics NeoTide, in model codes 1203A862-200 for Brown Storm and 1203A862-700 for Sweet Pink/Clay Grey, is expected to launch sometime in March through Asics’ website and select retailers. Details on pricing and exact availability are not yet available.
