Police equestrian teams claim medals at national championship

Several police teams from across India have earned medals at the ongoing 44th All-India Police Equestrian Championship and Mounted Police Duty Meet in Tekanpur. The Punjab Police secured a gold and multiple bronzes, while Karnataka's Mysuru Mounted Police won silver and bronze on the opening day. The event features competitions among 15 states and central forces.

The 44th All-India Police Equestrian Championship and Mounted Police Duty Meet is taking place from February 15 to 27 at the Border Security Force Academy in Tekanpur, Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh. Teams from 15 states and central armed police forces are participating in various equestrian and mounted police duty events.

The Punjab Police equestrian team, led by manager Inderbir Singh, has performed strongly. They clinched a bronze medal in the Medley Relay Team Event with riders Jaswinder Singh (DSP on ‘Sudha’), Head Constable Prabhjot Singh (on ‘Big Star’), and senior constable Simranjit Singh (on ‘Shershah’). Head Constable Sandeep Singh won gold in the Mental Hazard Competition and received the Lala BK Dey Trophy for his performance. Additional bronzes came from Constable Amninder Singh in the Farrier Competition, Class IV employee Vishu in the Syce Competition, and the team in the Dressage (Medium) event.

From Karnataka, the Mounted Company of the Karnataka State Reserve Police in Mysuru City also shone. Head Constable Suresh Malali, with 14 years of service and nine years in national equestrian events, earned a silver medal in Show Jumping Grade-III and a bronze in the Six Bar Jumping event riding ‘King Power’. The Karnataka team, including S.D. Sasanur, Chandra, Mahesh, and Suresh Malali, placed fourth in the Quadrille event. M.R. Sandesh and K.T. Jayaprakash secured fourth place in Show Jumping Preliminary (Normal), receiving consolation certificates.

Mysuru City Police Commissioner Seema Latkar and senior officers congratulated the Karnataka personnel. With the championship ongoing, more results are anticipated.
