Railways wins both team titles in national weightlifting championships

Railways secured the team championships in both men's and women's sections at the National weightlifting championships in Modinagar. Harcharan Singh and Lovepreet Singh claimed the elite men's 110kg and +110kg titles on the concluding day. M. Raja and Mirabai Chanu were named the best lifters in their respective categories.

The National weightlifting championships concluded on February 14, 2026, in Modinagar, with Railways clinching the team titles in both men's and women's sections. In the men's 110kg elite category, Harcharan Singh of RSPB lifted 161kg in snatch, 194kg in clean and jerk, for a total of 355kg to win gold. Suvansh Thakur of HP took the junior title in the same weight class with 147kg snatch, 167kg clean and jerk, and a total of 314kg.

In the +94kg youth category, Aditya secured victory with 138kg snatch, 170kg clean and jerk, and a total of 308kg. Lovepreet Singh of SSCB dominated the +110kg elite division, achieving 172kg in snatch, 202kg in clean and jerk, and a total of 374kg.

M. Raja was selected as the best lifter in the men's section, while Mirabai Chanu received the honor in the women's section. The event highlights Railways' strong performance in Indian weightlifting.
