The Directorate of Criminal Investigations has dismantled two alleged sexual exploitation operations and rescued 48 women in Ongata Rongai and Kiserian.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations arrested several suspects during coordinated raids on Friday, July 24. In the Rimpa area of Ongata Rongai, officers found 30 women aged 19 to 27 inside a house and seized seven laptops fitted with cameras believed to have been used for producing explicit material. The suspects were taken to Ongata Rongai Police Station.
In a separate operation in Kiserian, detectives rescued 18 women who police said had been lured with promises of domestic jobs. Mobile phones, laptops and other items were seized as exhibits. Efforts continue to trace the suspected organiser of that operation.
The rescued women have been placed under police protection while authorities arrange safe shelter, psychosocial support and medical assistance. The operations form part of ongoing efforts to dismantle criminal networks involved in sexual exploitation and the production of obscene material. A similar raid days earlier in Embakasi East rescued five women.
