Nearly 6,800 police and army personnel will secure tomorrow's presidential elections in Huila, where 937,739 citizens are eligible to vote.
The National Registry installed 268 voting stations and 2,745 tables across Huila's 37 municipalities. Of these tables, 551 are in rural areas. Yanira Córdoba Rivera, the departmental delegate of the Registry, confirmed that 469,931 women and 467,808 men make up the electoral roll.
Colonel Javier Duarte, Huila police commander, said 1,286 officers will cover 83 stations and 1,336 tables. Brigadier General César Augusto Suárez Giraldo, commander of the Ninth Army Brigade, added that 4,940 soldiers will guard 127 stations and 392 tables with territorial control operations and aerial surveillance.
Several municipalities issued public order decrees. Neiva, Pitalito, Garzón, Timaná and Isnos enforce dry laws from this afternoon until Monday, plus restrictions on carrying weapons, moving house and transporting hazardous materials.
