Agrarian Jurisdiction Bill is virtually archived and will be presented on July 20

Agriculture Minister Martha Carvajalino announced that the Agrarian Jurisdiction Bill is virtually archived due to lack of time in the current legislature and will be presented again on July 20.

Agriculture Minister Martha Carvajalino spoke today from the Congress of the Republic about the status of the Agrarian Jurisdiction Bill. She indicated that with two sessions left in the legislature, the project is virtually archived.

Carvajalino explained that the bill must be approved in the plenaries of the Chamber and the Senate and go to conciliation before June 20, as it has been in process for two years and its constitutional term expires. Therefore, the National Government will present it again on July 20 to the new Congress.

The minister detailed that since 2017 there are more than 35,000 agrarian processes in administrative proceedings, several of them in de facto suspension, along with more than 23,000 related to land tenure and more than 2,500 in contentious jurisdiction. She noted that the Government will rebuild the bill including principles such as protection of rural women and agrarian possession.
