The Athletics have reinstated first baseman Nick Kurtz from the 10-day injured list and optioned infielder Max Muncy to Triple-A Las Vegas.
The club announced the moves on Saturday. Kurtz had been placed on the injured list July 10 with a right thumb capsule sprain.
Kurtz is batting .266 with 15 doubles, one triple, 20 home runs and 66 RBI this season. He earned American League Player of the Month honors for May and was selected as the AL All-Star starting first baseman.
Muncy went 0-for-3 with three strikeouts in two games during his latest stint with the Athletics. The 23-year-old is hitting .362 with five home runs in 12 games at Triple-A.
