New Federal Auditor Aureliano Hernández released his first 2025 Public Account audit package, including 21 criminal and 30 administrative complaints for detected irregularities.
Hernández reported audits across all 32 states and 2,478 municipalities covering 29,736 transfers from the Finance Ministry.
A 1.4 million peso transfer to Chiapas authorities remains pending clarification. The criminal complaints totaling over 600 million pesos relate to public accounts from 2020 onward.
The auditor detailed 30 serious administrative liability files for collusion in public procurement. He also announced a new comprehensive oversight model and the launch of a citizen mailbox that has received 266 complaints so far.
Hernández, three and a half months into the role, stated the Superior Audit Office coordinates work with the Financial Intelligence Unit and the Attorney General's Office.
