Belgrano overcame Argentinos Juniors in a penalty shootout and advanced to the Torneo Apertura final, where they will face River Plate on Sunday at the Mario Alberto Kempes stadium.
The match ended 1-1 after regulation and extra time. Facundo Jainikoski opened the scoring for Argentinos Juniors at the 7th minute of the first half, while Nicolás Fernández equalized for Belgrano at the 49th minute of the second half.
In the penalty shootout, Belgrano converted four penalties through Lucas Passerini, Nicolás Fernández, Emiliano Rigoni and Ramiro Hernándes. Argentinos Juniors missed three attempts taken by Gastón Verón, Gabriel Florentín and Enzo Pérez.
Belgrano coach Ricardo Zielinski celebrated the qualification and highlighted the team's excitement about playing the final against River. The match will decide the Torneo Apertura champion and award a spot in the 2027 Copa Libertadores.
