Beyoncé surprise-released a new song titled “Morning Dew (Donk)” on July 4. The track marks her first new music in two years and launches a 60-day countdown to the 20th anniversary reissue of her 2006 album B’Day.
The four-minute song arrived on major streaming platforms at 9 a.m. ET on Saturday alongside a black-and-white lyric video. It reuses footage shot by photographer Cliff Watts for Beyoncé’s 2007 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue cover.
“Morning Dew (Donk)” was written by Beyoncé, Pharrell Williams, The-Dream and Darius Dixon, and produced by Beyoncé and Williams. It will appear on the upcoming 20th anniversary edition of B’Day, due September 4, 2026, which is also the singer’s birthday.
The release comes after Cowboy Carter, Beyoncé’s eighth solo studio album, which topped the Billboard 200 for two weeks in 2024. A press release described the track as “a direct nod to her loyal BeyHive to commemorate the upcoming epic celebration of B’Day.”
