The Seattle Mariners reinstated infielder Brendan Donovan from the 10-day injured list before their series opener against the Chicago White Sox. Catcher Cal Raleigh also returned to the starting lineup behind the plate for the first time in several days.
Seattle announced the move prior to Friday’s game at Rate Field in Chicago. Donovan, who had been dealing with a left groin muscle strain, was immediately placed in the leadoff spot. Catcher Jhonny Pereda was optioned to Triple-A Tacoma to clear roster space.
