Brian Tyree Henry joins Apple's 'Running' opposite Spike Fearn

Brian Tyree Henry has signed on to star in Apple's upcoming film 'Running,' directed by Gavin O’Connor. He will appear opposite Spike Fearn in the story of a homeless high school running prodigy. The project hails from Apple Original Films.

Brian Tyree Henry, fresh off awards recognition for his roles in Apple's Causeway and Dope Thief, has joined the cast of Running. Directed by Gavin O’Connor, the film pairs him with Spike Fearn, known from Alien: Romulus. Apple Studios is backing the production, with Makeready and Nike as producers. Bill Dubuque, writer of Ozark, penned the script based on O’Connor’s original story. The plot centers on a homeless high school running prodigy seeking greatness, using his talent to escape his past and build a family. O’Connor has described the inspiration: “I started thinking about building a story around a homeless kid who doesn’t have a place in the world. No love. No friends. No family. The only home he knows is the streets. It felt like a great place to begin a character’s journey and tell an underdog story about the human spirit.” Henry earned an Academy Award nomination for Causeway alongside Jennifer Lawrence and received Emmy and Critics Choice nods for Dope Thief, which he also executive produced under Ridley Scott's direction. His upcoming slate includes Netflix’s Bass X Machina, where he stars and executive produces, Sam Esmail’s Panic Carefully for Warner Bros., Wagner Moura’s Last Night at the Lobster, and Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse. He is represented by Jennifer Wiley-Moxley of JWM Entertainment Group, CAA, and Jackoway Austen Tyerman.
