Cardoso, Okonjo-Iweala to lead Africa Emerging Markets Forum

Central Bank of Nigeria Governor Olayemi Cardoso and World Trade Organisation Director-General Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala will headline the 7th Africa Emerging Markets Forum in Abuja this week.

The two-day forum is scheduled for July 29 and July 30 at the Central Bank of Nigeria headquarters. It is hosted by the bank in collaboration with the Emerging Markets Forum and the Centre for the Study of the Economies of Africa.

A fireside dialogue between Cardoso and Okonjo-Iweala will focus on the theme Building Resilience Amidst Geoeconomic Uncertainties. The discussion aims to explore ways for African economies to sustain reform momentum and deepen regional integration.

Finance Minister Taiwo Oyedele and Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Kingsley Udeh are also set to deliver keynote addresses. Other participants include World Bank Chief Economist Indermit Gill and Emerging Markets Forum founding director Harinder Kohli.

Topics will cover macroeconomic stability, cross-border payments, foreign direct investment, artificial intelligence and challenges facing fragile economies.
