Chanel and Tribeca hosted their annual June luncheon at The Greenwich Hotel to celebrate the Through Her Lens program for women and non-binary filmmakers. Attendees included Meg Ryan, Maggie Rogers and Katie Holmes. The event highlighted recent program achievements and included a Netflix announcement for a Basquiat documentary.
Jane Rosenthal, Tribeca co-founder, announced during the gathering that a documentary about Jean-Michel Basquiat had been picked up by Netflix. Quinn Wilson, co-director of the film, stood to acknowledge the news as the crowd cheered. Rosenthal emphasized the program's origins, noting it launched 12 years ago with Chanel to support women filmmakers with mentorship, resources and funding. She stated that the initiative has backed more than 50 short films and 100 emerging creators. Rebecca Glashow, Tribeca's newly appointed CEO, said diverse voices strengthen creative work. Rosenthal added that submissions for the 2026 cycle are now open and stressed the importance of funding stories that might otherwise remain untold.
