Gabriela Hearst and Sir Paul Smith hosted a rooftop dinner at Chateau Marmont to mark the launch of their limited-edition fashion collection. The event drew celebrities including Jessica Alba, John Boyega, and Quinta Brunson. The 14-piece line features faded photographs from Sir Paul Smith's father's archives printed on various garments.
The designers were introduced by Wesley Schultz of The Lumineers and exchanged ideas before deciding to collaborate informally. Sir Paul Smith said the project started with a simple suggestion over text: “It was not a big plan. In the world today, everything’s so corporate and homogenized. This was just like, ‘Should we do something fun together?’” The images, described by Smith as having a surreal tint like a Godard film, appear on silk trench coats, slip dresses, cashmere sweaters, and bags. The hand-knit sweaters were produced by Manos del Uruguay, a cooperative supporting rural women, aligning with Hearst’s focus on responsible production. Guests enjoyed hamachi crudo, beet salad, and lemon tagliatelle at tables lit by colorful lamps, with cashmere throws provided. Quinta Brunson, wearing the slip dress and trench coat, said the pieces combined Hearst’s simplicity with Smith’s color and spark. Several items sold out in boutiques on the day of the event.
