The 2026 Supercopa Rei final, pitting the 2025 Copa do Brasil champion Corinthians against the Brazilian league winner Flamengo, took place at Arena BRB Mané Garrincha in Brasília. The match, presented by Metrópoles Sports, ended with a 2-0 Corinthians victory, marking the Timão's second title in the competition, the first since 1991, also against Flamengo.
Gabriel Paulista scored first at the 26th minute of the opening half, his debut goal for the club. At the end of the first half, Flamengo's midfielder Carrascal slapped Breno Bidon in the face, but no penalty was called at the time. After halftime, referee Rafael Rodrigo Klein reviewed the footage via VAR and ejected the Colombian for violent conduct, leaving the Rubro-Negro short-handed. The CBF issued a statement explaining the review was finalized during the break, supported by IFAB rules and FIFA's VAR protocol, allowing intervention for violent acts at any point.
With the numerical advantage, Corinthians dominated. Yuri Alberto, who played despite a virus affecting 26 delegation members, sealed the win in stoppage time with a chip over goalkeeper Rossi. The striker vented: “I played with the virus... Vomiting Friday and Saturday. I don't know how the coach kept me until the end.”
Corinthians' fan mobilization was remarkable: organized groups sent over 100 buses from São Paulo, with Gaviões da Fiel providing 74. The 71,244 attendance set a stadium record. Notable guests included STF ministers Gilmar Mendes, Alexandre de Moraes (a Corinthians fan), Nunes Marques (Flamengo supporter), and Flávio Dino (Botafogo fan), plus Brazil national team coach Carlo Ancelotti.
Corinthians coach Dorival Júnior praised the tactics: “We had disposition, commitment, and a very clear game plan from the start.” On the Flamengo side, Lucas Paquetá, who missed a clear chance, admitted: “I was anxious to score... I chose a move that wasn't the best.” President Lula celebrated on social media: “Congratulations to the Timão for winning the 2026 Supercopa Rei. Grit, unity, and a fanbase that never gives up. Go, Corinthians!”
The win earned Corinthians R$6.35 million in prize money, plus US$1 million from Conmebol, bolstering the club's restructuring amid financial constraints compared to their rivals.
