Thousands joined the Critical Pride march in Madrid on Sunday. The procession started at 19:00 from Carpetana station and moved through Carabanchel under the slogan against colonial capitalism.
The Plataforma Orgullo Crítico Madrid 2026 called the demonstration as an alternative to the official Madrid Orgullo. Attendees chanted slogans in support of the Palestinian people, such as “From the river to the sea, Palestine will win”, along with messages against the Israeli genocide and colonialism.
The march recalled the 1969 Stonewall riots and reclaimed the combative origins of the LGTBI movement against its institutionalization. Participants including Óscar, Lola, Neru and Claudia highlighted intersectionality and the need to defend rights on the streets.
Differentiated blocks were set up, including a non-mixed one for migra-racialized people. Numerous chants criticized gentrification, racism and the commercialization of Pride. The protest took place under a large police deployment.
