David Croft rejects Carlos Sainz regret claims amid Williams struggles

Sky Sports commentator David Croft has dismissed paddock speculation that Carlos Sainz regrets joining Williams instead of Audi. The remarks come as Williams sits eighth in the 2026 constructors' championship with 11 points after a difficult start to the season.

Croft made the comments during an appearance on the Sky Sports F1 Show. He stated that Sainz is not regretting the decision to join Williams.

"No, not really. I don't think he's regretting going," Croft said. He noted that the team aims to reduce the weight of its overweight chassis by the Baku race.

Williams joined the constructors' standings with 11 points after Sainz secured two podiums in 2025. Audi sits ninth with 10 points and faces its own integration challenges as a new power unit supplier.

Croft highlighted ongoing structural changes at Williams under team principal James Vowles. He said the future looks brighter than the present despite current frustrations.
