DCI takes over probe into killing of gospel artist Rachel Wandeto

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations has launched a full probe into the death of gospel musician Rachel Wandeto. She was attacked on May 16 in Mwiki and died from her injuries two days later at Kenyatta National Hospital. Her support for President William Ruto has been cited as a possible motive.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations Homicide Directorate took over the case on May 19. Officers are working to identify the three men who attacked Wandeto with a flammable substance along 11th Street near Obama Road.

Wandeto was rushed to Kenyatta National Hospital with 75 percent burns. She died on May 18 while receiving treatment.

President William Ruto condemned the attack. He stated that the criminals would be held to account irrespective of their affiliation.
