The Directorate of Criminal Investigations launched a Multi-Biometric Identification System on Thursday that integrates fingerprint, palmprint and facial recognition into one database.
DCI Director General Amin Mohammed said the platform will process Police Clearance Certificates in one day under optimal conditions, down from the previous 14-day wait.
The system will also help investigators identify suspects faster and improve the accuracy of biometric matching in criminal cases, according to Mohammed.
The rollout replaces an older fingerprint platform and forms part of government efforts to digitise public services.
