Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and Lieutenant-Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu led celebrations for the International Day of Yoga in Delhi on Sunday.
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and Lieutenant-Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu performed asanas alongside thousands of participants including students, youth, women and senior citizens. Gupta joined a session at Neeli Jheel in Asola-Bhati Wildlife Sanctuary with Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa and senior officials. She described yoga as a priceless heritage of Indian culture and a complete way of life that balances body, mind and soul.
Sandhu started his day at the Yamuna Sports Complex. Events were organised across all 70 assembly constituencies under the theme One Delhi, One Yoga. In a post on X, Sandhu noted that yoga is rooted in India’s civilisational ethos and highlighted strong participation from women and senior citizens.
Community sessions also took place in parks and public spaces throughout the city.
