A North Carolina school official has been indicted on six felony counts of obstruction of justice. Tanya Giovanni is accused of impeding an investigation into a teacher's aide tying a 6-year-old girl with autism to a chair at Eno Valley Elementary School in Durham.
Tanya Janique Giovanni, who served as deputy superintendent for administrative, legal and compliance services in Durham Public Schools, was indicted this week. Prosecutors allege she withheld a principal's statement about the incident, blocked an employee from speaking with law enforcement and falsely claimed no investigative file existed on the matter.
