Eberspächer plans to triple Asia business share within three years

German automotive supplier Eberspächer is significantly expanding its China operations. CEO Jörg Steins announced plans to raise the Asia business share from eight to 24 percent. New orders for battery housings and exhaust systems support the effort.

Eberspächer pursues the goal through new customers and partnerships in China. The company from Esslingen has already received orders for battery housings as well as exhaust systems for range-extender vehicles. One hundred engineers on site develop the relevant technologies.

Steins emphasized that growth should mainly come from business in China. At the same time Martin Peters spoke of a clear failure of the first wave of German electric cars on the Chinese market.

Like many other suppliers the company followed German manufacturers to the People's Republic. There it now seeks new paths to revive its shrinking business.
