Ricardo Roa Barragán will leave the presidency of Ecopetrol on July 30 after a period marked by judicial controversies. The move coincides with the transition to the government of president-elect Abelardo de la Espriella.
Roa will temporarily return to his post on July 27 to complete administrative procedures and sign the second-quarter financial statements. His definitive exit marks the end of an administration that faced investigations for alleged influence peddling and pressures in contracts.
The board of directors is also registering changes. Ángela María Robledo and Tatiana Roa Avendaño resigned effective July 31. Luis Felipe Henao Cardona assumed the presidency of the body, and Jorge Mario Velásquez was appointed as a new member.
The incoming government plans a forensic audit of recent decisions and adjustments in hydrocarbon exploration. Ecopetrol, of which the Colombian state owns 88.5 percent of the shares, represents a key source of fiscal revenue and exports.
