A crash on Sunday at the intersection of Alcalá and Miguel Yuste streets in Madrid's San Blas-Canillejas district left eight people injured after involving a car, an Uber VTC vehicle and a National Police patrol.
The incident took place around 4:30 p.m. at a traffic-light controlled junction. Emergency services, including Samur-Protección Civil, treated the injured and transported them to several hospitals across the capital.
The driver of the private car became trapped and was freed by firefighters from the Madrid City Council. She suffered a possible hip fracture and was taken in potentially serious condition to Hospital La Paz. Another woman traveling with her did not require hospitalization.
The Uber VTC driver was sent to Hospital Ramón y Cajal with a shoulder trauma and bruises but was not in serious condition. His four passengers sustained minor injuries and were taken to Hospital de La Princesa. Two National Police officers suffered light bruises and were moved to Hospital Infanta Leonor.
Madrid Municipal Police are now investigating the circumstances of the crash.
