A major fire broke out on Midsummer's Eve in a multi-family house in Märsta north of Stockholm. All residents were evacuated and emergency services are working on site through the night.
The alarm came shortly after 2:30 p.m. on Midsummer's Eve, June 19. The fire started on a balcony and spread to the roof and loft walkways of the two-story building that has 18 apartments.
Police say 40 people are registered at the house. No person was injured but one cat received help from an animal ambulance. One person has been notified of suspicion of gross general dangerous negligence.
The rescue service had nine units and seven ambulances on site. The operation is expected to continue through the night with no risk of spread to neighboring properties.
