The independent French union STJV is urging all video game workers to strike on June 25 in response to widespread layoffs and alleged mistreatment by studio management.
The Syndicat des Travailleuses du Jeu Vidéo announced its "Summer Grève Fest" action on June 22. It is asking anyone employed by a video game company, including those in game engines, marketing, esports and online content, to simply not show up for work.
The union points to more than 1,000 jobs already threatened or lost since a previous national strike on May 27. It singled out Quantic Dream, where planned cuts have now risen to 115 positions following the quick removal of Spellcasters Chronicles from Steam.
A picket line is planned outside the studio’s Paris headquarters on the day of the strike. STJV stated that the French video game industry faces a critical situation and that further actions will be announced later.
