GKR Timoer, eldest daughter of Pakubuwono XIII, responds to her brother KGPH Mangkubumi's doubts about their father's will for Purbaya's enthronement as king of Keraton Surakarta. She confirms the will exists and served as the legal basis for the enthronement before PB XIII's burial. Timoer regrets Mangkubumi's public questioning, calling it taboo.
Surakarta, VIVA – GKR Timoer Rumbay Kusuma Dewayani, the eldest daughter of the late Pakubuwono (PB) XIII, responds to doubts raised by her brother KGPH Hangabehi or Mangkubumi regarding their father's will for the enthronement of SISKS Pakubuwono Purbaya as king of Keraton Surakarta Hadiningrat.
GKR Timoer confirms that PB XIII's will indeed exists and formed the basis for Purbaya's enthronement before PB XIII's burial. She regrets Mangkubumi's questioning of the will in the media, describing it as taboo. "Sebenarnya buat saya ini sesuatu yang tabu mempertanyakan di media apakah surat wasiat itu ada. Seharusnya kalau dia bijaksana dan smart, ingin melihat atau bukti surat wasiat itu ketika bicara dengan kita, bicara dengan sinuhun XIV," said GKR Timoer on Sunday (16/11/2025).
According to Timoer, after PB XIII's burial, she met Mangkubumi, but he never inquired about the will's authenticity or validity. "Tidak pernah ada dia menanyakan. Yang pastinya beliau (PB XIV) dan ibu wasiat yang membawa (wasiat)," she stated. She emphasizes that the enthronement would not have proceeded without evidence of legal validity under state law and customary law. "Kita kan enggak berani melangkah sejauh ini kalau kita tidak punya bukti dan kekuatan legalitas hukum negara maupun hukum adat. Jadi itu bohong kalau dia merasa tidak diajak rembukan," Timoer added.
Timoer plans to open communication with Mangkubumi after the enthronement of Jumenengan Dalem Nata Binangkare PB XIV, though she remains shocked by his actions. "Nanti kita lihat, karena terus terang kita syok. Selama ini berkoar-koar menjaga paugeran, menjaga adat ternyata apa yang dilakukan Handrawina (penobatan raja) itu tidak sama sekali ada unsur adatnya," she said. She also highlights the inconsistency in Mangkubumi's statements about not separating PB XIII's children.
The conflict stems from a leadership dualism at Keraton Surakarta Hadiningrat. Purbaya's faction enthroned him before PB XIII's burial, while Mangkubumi's faction proceeded with an enthronement after an internal family meeting at the palace.
