The Finance Ministry has blocked 2.8 million Bolsa Família and BPC beneficiaries from online betting platforms. The step follows a late-2024 Supreme Court ruling and new advertising rules published this week.
According to the Finance Ministry survey, the blocks target accounts that remained active despite the ban on registrations for social program recipients. Bolsa Família and BPC together reach 25 million people.
In addition to the blocks, more than 900,000 people requested voluntary exclusion through the self-exclusion platform launched at the end of 2025. Currently, 925,000 CPFs are blocked via Gov.br.
A 2024 Central Bank study showed that about 5 million Bolsa Família families moved 3 billion reais in bets in one month, an amount equal to 15% of total program payments.
