Gracie Abrams addressed the nepo baby discourse surrounding her family background during a recent interview. The singer-songwriter acknowledged the privileges tied to her parents' careers in entertainment.
In an interview with The New York Times Popcast, Abrams spoke about her upcoming third album, Daughter From Hell. She noted the financial security and industry knowledge provided by her father, director J.J. Abrams, and her mother, producer Katie McGrath.
"The nepo stuff is obviously in the discourse appropriately," Abrams said. She added that her upbringing offered a safety net, allowing time to focus on music without financial fears.
Abrams also referenced the specific vocabulary and understanding of creative fields gained from her household. She has previously discussed the topic in a 2023 Rolling Stone interview, emphasizing her efforts to separate her parents from her career decisions.
The album Daughter From Hell is scheduled for release on July 17.
