Following the July 28 release date reveal at the Xbox Summer Showcase, Halo Studios has shared more details on the single-player remake built in Unreal Engine 5.
Halo: Campaign Evolved is a complete remake of Halo: Combat Evolved developed by Halo Studios (formerly 343 Industries) using Unreal Engine 5. The focus remains on the single-player campaign while adding new prequel missions.
Key new features include optional sprinting, the ability to steal vehicles, and weapons from later Halo games. Co-op supports up to three players cross-platform, with local split-screen for two on consoles. A total of 43 skulls are included to modify gameplay, one of which enables a third-person perspective.
The game launches July 28 on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. Halo Studios' community manager indicated that additional remakes could follow.
