Hanny Kristianto, Secretary General of Mualaf Center Indonesia, has revoked Richard Lee's mualaf certificate. The move comes amid the beauty doctor's ongoing legal case.
Hanny Kristianto announced the revocation on 6 May 2026. He stressed that only the administrative document was withdrawn, not Richard Lee's Islamic status.
"I am not revoking his mualaf status, so be careful not to get it backwards. So, I am revoking his certificate," Hanny said, as reported by Reyben Entertainment.
Richard Lee, who comes from a Catholic family, embraced Islam several years ago. His religion on his ID card has not changed even though he previously obtained a mualaf certificate. The revocation has sparked discussion about the administrative aspects of religious conversion.
Hanny, a former Christian religious leader, now actively mentors new converts through his organization. He emphasizes that becoming a mualaf requires full commitment, not just a symbolic change.
