Indonesian police have confirmed that reports of Syekh Ahmad Al Misry's arrest in Egypt are false. Egyptian authorities are still searching for him there.
Indonesia's International Relations Division of the police stated that information about the arrest of the sexual harassment suspect is inaccurate.
Brigadier General Police Untung Widyatmoko explained that Egyptian authorities are currently searching for Syekh Ahmad's exact location in one of the provinces in Egypt. He confirmed that the suspect remains in the country.
Earlier, Hanny Kristianto posted on Instagram that Syekh Ahmad had been arrested and was being returned to Indonesia. The police added that Egypt has not yet given an official response to the examination request because the suspect holds dual citizenship.
