Former president François Hollande and ex-prime minister Bernard Cazeneuve have refused to take part in the Socialist Party internal primary scheduled for autumn.
The socialist family hoped for a closed primary bringing together all sensitivities to designate its champion for the presidential election. This internal competition was meant to welcome socialists and their social-democratic allies by autumn at the latest.
Bernard Cazeneuve declined the invitation on Thursday. "The power games from which I have resolutely kept my distance since the alliance concluded with LFI have ruined everything," he said. The former prime minister founded the movement La Convention after leaving the PS in 2022.
Euro MP Raphaël Glucksmann, from Place Publique, is slow to confirm his participation in this selection.
